ClimateXChange will be hosting the Climate Horizon 2040 Conference on 4 February 2025. 

With the next Scottish Government Climate Change Plan due to cover the period to 2040, Scotland is at a critical point for climate action to reach net zero and build climate resilience.

The conference will aim to generate ideas and insights on emerging research and developments that can inform realistic and achievable climate policy in the 2030s and 2040s.

Topics

Topics will include integrating mitigation and adaptation, carbon pricing, AI, home retrofit and land use. Interactive sessions will cover:

  • opportunities for emissions reductions and sequestration in the medium-term including policies, innovations and technologies
  • building blocks for successful future policies, including filling research gaps, activities to move public opinion
  • evidence and activities that can support a just transition to net zero
  • options for collaborative action, investment and finance.

Audience

The invitation only event will bring together researchers, policymakers, agencies, regional partnerships, businesses and delivery organisations to explore Scotland’s climate research priorities and priority actions.

Next steps

Outcomes from the event will inform discussions with policymakers from the Scottish Government.
