Community benefits from offshore renewables: good practice review
Community benefits offer the opportunity for Scottish communities to share in the financial value of their local energy resources. There are various ways by which these benefits can be distributed amongst communities and choosing the best method can be challenging. Particular challenges are also faced in identifying the communities that should receive benefits from offshore renewable energy developments.
This report explores the various methods that have been used in the UK and abroad to distribute benefits from offshore energy developments. In particular, the report considers the relationship between how communities are identified, how impact is perceived, and how benefits may therefore be distributed. This evidence is used to identify good practice and key points of learning for Scottish policy and planning.
